Woods & Co Recruitment are thrilled to partner with a Japanese rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD in their search for a Head Chef.
Drawing inspiration from 1980s Tokyo, this venue combines elevated izakaya-style dining, specialist sakes and craft cocktails with an energetic nightlife atmosphere. With multiple dining spaces, this standout venue invites guests to dine, drink and linger long into the night.

What do you do?
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure consistency and quality across every service.
- Lead menu development with a focus on premium Japanese-inspired cuisine.
- Build, train and mentor BOH teams to create a positive and high-performing culture.
- Manage supplier relationships, food costs and KPIs to support strong commercial performance.
- Remain highly operational and present during service, leading from the front.
What do you need?
- Trade qualified chef with 3+ years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef.
- Strong culinary background with a passion for Japanese flavours and dining culture.
- Hands-on experience in menu development and execution.
- Strong commercial understanding of food costs, margins and kitchen performance.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, inspire and mentor a team.
- Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced kitchens.
- Passionate about delivering memorable dining experiences that exceed expectations.
