Woods & Co. Recruitment has partnered with a well-established and growing custom joinery and cabinetry business known for delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across Melbourne. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship, technical precision, and project delivery, the business continues to expand and is now seeking an experienced Senior Designer to lead its design and drafting function.

This is a senior opportunity suited to a highly skilled technical designer with strong AutoCAD capability and a deep understanding of joinery manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving drawing quality, production efficiency, and overall project outcomes across the business.

What you’ll be doing

• Producing detailed and production-ready joinery drawings using AutoCAD
• Preparing shop drawings, elevations, sections, and technical documentation
• Interpreting architectural drawings and project specifications
• Liaising closely with production, project management, and installation teams
• Overseeing and supporting designers and drafters within the business
• Reviewing and improving drawing quality and technical accuracy
• Ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with manufacturing processes
• Assisting in streamlining design and drafting workflows
• Supporting the successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience within joinery, cabinetry, shopfitting, or commercial fit-outs
• Strong AutoCAD drafting and technical detailing experience
• Excellent understanding of joinery construction and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage deadlines and work across multiple projects
• Experience in a senior or leadership-level design role (preferred)
• Experience with Cabmaster, Microvellum, or similar software is advantageous
• Professional, reliable, and solutions-focused attitude
