Woods & Co are seeking an experienced OH&S Officer to oversee health, safety and compliance across multiple residential scaffolding projects throughout Melbourne.
This role is ideal for someone with strong construction safety experience who understands residential building sites, high-risk work environments and the practical application of WHS legislation. Previous scaffolding experience is highly regarded but not essential — what matters most is your ability to drive a strong safety culture, ensure compliance and build positive relationships with site teams.
The Role
You will be responsible for promoting and maintaining safe work practices across a portfolio of active residential scaffolding projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, scaffold crews and residential builders, you will conduct site inspections, provide safety guidance and ensure all works are completed in accordance with legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety inspections across multiple residential sites
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, Australian Standards and company procedures
- Complete site audits, risk assessments, SWMS reviews and incident investigations
- Provide safety coaching and support to scaffold crews and site supervisors
- Identify hazards and implement practical corrective actions
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and compliance records
- Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to ongoing safety training
- Foster a proactive safety culture across all projects
About You
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction (or equivalent)
- Previous experience as an OH&S Officer, Safety Advisor or similar construction safety role
- Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and construction safety requirements
- Experience conducting site audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Knowledge of high-risk construction activities (scaffolding experience advantageous)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- White Card and current Victorian Driver's Licence
