Software Engineer

Woods & Co are partnering with a leading FinTech payment solutions provider to find a Software Developer with 1-4 years’ experience to join their high-performing team based in Cheltenham.

You'll be working alongside experienced developers on exciting, real-world payment technology projects, gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle in a commercial environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems and commercial-grade applications
  • Manage the full development lifecycle including receiving, recording, tracking, and closing all development requests
  • Deliver clean, efficient code aligned with agile methodologies and high-quality standards
  • Independently and collaboratively work on both new and existing product development
  • Assist with software testing, debugging, performance optimisation, and post-delivery support (BAU)
  • Integrate systems and implement third-party APIs
  • Ensure all project tasks are delivered to agreed timelines in coordination with Project Managers and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all development work including design specs and usage records
  • Proactively contribute to continuous improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of the product suite
  • Provide technical guidance and informal training to team members and support staff
  • Recommend innovative technical solutions and approaches to improve development workflows
  • Actively support the company's mission, policies, and compliance procedures, including information security and WHS standards
What You’ll Need
  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (Pass or above)
  • 1-4 years’ experience in software development, web development, or a similar technical role
  • Proven hands-on experience with object-oriented programming (e.g. C#, Java, Python)
  • Experience working across complex system environments with an understanding of commercial-grade software design
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), relational databases (SQL), and version control tools (e.g. Git)
  • Strong communication, task management, and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
  • A proactive and solutions-focused attitude, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team
  • High level of personal accountability, with the ability to transfer technical knowledge and guide others
  • Commitment to compliance, documentation standards, and continuous improvement
  • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to handle post-deployment support and BAU operations
  • Readiness to contribute to a dynamic, high-performing FinTech team committed to innovation and business continuity
