Woods & Co Recruitment has partnered with one of Melbourne’s iconic Japanese Izakayas in search of an experienced and charismatic Restaurant Manager. This venue is more than just a restaurant; it’s an immersive experience combining exquisite cuisine with refined design across multiple settings—indoors, mezzanine, Tatami room, and a picturesque outdoor area.
You’ll be the driving force behind this sophisticated yet welcoming venue. With a capacity of 140 seats, it’s a dynamic space where the art of Japanese dining is celebrated. You’ll lead a diverse team of front-of-house staff, ensuring that every detail of the guest experience is meticulously managed, from the first hello to the last goodbye.

What do you do? - Train, manage, and expand staff skills in sales, service, and systems.
- Lead a team comprising 3 bar staff, 6 front-of-house staff, and 1 assistant manager.
- Be in charge of the overall dining experience, including head wait duties.
- Sell food and beverages with a high level of knowledge and competency.
- Oversee every detail of the dining room.
- Coordinate Bookings and Events.
- Oversee inventory and stock management.
- Sequence of Service: Deploy and maintain service standards.
- Work with other departments to ensure optimal service and internal harmony.
- Conduct staff reviews, performance analysis and rostering.
What do you need? - Enjoy interacting with patrons and the theatre of running a hospitality venue.
- Good at making decisions and leading by example.
- High level of communication and listening skills.
- Able to deal with people confidently.
- Commercially astute
