Assistant Venue Manager | High-Energy Japanese-Inspired Dining & Bar

Woods & Co Recruitment are partnering with a standout Japanese-inspired dining and bar concept in Melbourne’s inner south-east, known for its modern, playful approach to Japanese cuisine, bold flavour profiles and consistently high-energy service.

This is a venue that thrives on momentum — busy services, sharp execution, and a team culture built on pace, personality and precision.

We’re seeking an Assistant Venue Manager who is confident on the floor, leads with presence, and knows how to keep a team engaged and performing during peak trade.

What do you do?

  • Support daily operations across high-volume lunch and dinner services
  • Lead service from the floor during peak trade and set the standard for the team
  • Train, coach and motivate FOH staff to deliver consistent guest experiences
  • Assist with labour management, rostering, stock control and cost awareness
  • Maintain service flow, speed and presentation during busy trading periods
  • Work closely with senior leadership to execute service standards and improvements
  • Ensure compliance across safety, cleanliness and operational procedures
  • Contribute to building a strong, positive and high-performing team culture

What do you need?

  • Experience as an Assistant Manager or senior FOH Supervisor in fast-paced venues
  • Strong presence on the floor with confidence leading under pressure
  • A hands-on, people-focused leadership style with high standards
  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations and service flow
  • Strong communication skills with energy, clarity and consistency
  • Availability across nights, weekends and peak trading periods
