Assistant Venue Manager

Woods & Co Recruitment are excited to partner with a bold, high-energy Japanese-inspired restaurant and bar located in Melbourne’s inner south-east. Famous for its irreverent take on modern Japanese dining, this venue delivers loud flavours, playful presentation and a buzzing, fast-paced atmosphere night after night.

We’re looking for an Assistant Venue Manager that is someone who can lead from the floor, bring energy to every service and help drive a tight, fun and high-performing team.

What do you do?

  • Support daily operations across busy lunch and dinner services
  • ​​​​​​​Lead from the front during peak trade, setting the tone for service
  • Motivate, train and develop FOH teams to deliver standout experiences
  • Assist with labour management, stock control and cost efficiencies
  • Maintain service standards, speed and atmosphere during high-volume trade
  • Work closely with senior leadership on service execution and team performance
  • Ensure compliance across safety, cleanliness and operational standards

What do you need?

  • Experience as an Assistant Manager or supervisor in a fast-paced venue
  • ​​​​​​​Strong floor presence and the ability to lead under pressure
  • A people-first leadership style with high standards
  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations and service flow
  • Confidence, energy and clear communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in a speedy environment
